An evening of long-form improvisation involving a few different formats and styles each time. Great for those that want to broaden their experience of improv or for anyone who just likes a bit of long-form.
A little experience is needed for these sessions. Either you’ve done a couple improv or acting classes before, or you’ve been casually doing improv for a little while (e.g. the Jam).
Join a free improv taster session if you’re completely new to improv and acting.
What Happens in the Session?
An experienced improviser will facilitate the session, deciding on the layout of the evening and guiding the scenes. There won’t necessarily be any teaching but you’ll be in good hands; the teacher may guide you through sets where appropriate. You may find yourself in sets that involve recurring characters and a number of scenes centred around a single narrative.
What is Long-form Improv?
It’s a category of improvised comedy performance where one or more narratives are maintained, explored or advanced through more than one scene. In long-form improv, you’ll almost definitely find yourself playing a character more than once, for example, and working towards keeping a story going for a few scenes.
Signing Up
You’ll need to sign up on the website here before coming through. Having an attendance limit helps us make sure that everyone gets a good amount of time in scenes. This is long-form so things do run a little longer (in a good way, obvs).
