Class Topic: The Montage Format
This session covers the Montage improv format. The Montage is one of the more free-flowing and accessible formats of improv comedy. It is a format that follows a series of scenes, where each new scene is inspired by something from one of the previous ones. It’s incredibly playful and a great way to explore characters, ideas and themes. We’ll be looking at how to find inspiration from a scene you’re watching, and how to move from one scene to the next when you’re performing it.
Improv Drop-in Classes
The drop-in classes cover a wide range of improv-related skills. Things like creating characters, narrative, movement and physicality, stage technique and presence, listening and observation skills, game and format analysis and loads more.
The classes are mixed ability and the roster of teachers is diverse. The variety and practice will make you a pro in no time.

Frequently Asked Questions
I'm a complete beginner. Can I join these classes?
It varies but we'll always make it clear in the event's description. Look for the blue boxes near the beginning of the descriptions, experience level is always dropped in there.
Generally, if there are two classes in a month, 1 will be open to those who are yet to try any improv or acting.
What are the improv classes like?
A lot of fun! It's improv comedy we're doing here.
We always start with some light (and sometimes a bit silly) theatre exercises as a group to loosen everyone up and shake off the day. Then the class will move on to exercises related to that session's topic (movement exercises in a character class, for example). The teacher will give feedback both generally to the class and directly to individuals throughout the session.
How are drop-in classes different from the weekly Jams?
The drop-in classes involve a lot more teaching than the Jams. You'll receive more direct guidance so you'll see your abilities improve much more quickly.
The drop-in classes are for you if you'd like to learn more about and become better at improv.
