Learn the basics of creating a hip hop improv scene. Get an introduction to rhyming structure and progressing a story through rap.
You must have completed a basics improv course (with anyone, not just us) to take part in this workshop. No musical experience is necessary, though.
What is Musical Improv?
Musical improv can take many forms. From short-form games that revolve around a single song to entire improvised plays in a style of musical theatre.
It often involves improvising lyrics—whether you sing them or rap them—and coming together with your fellow performers to create entire songs from close to nothing.
What you’ll be doing in this Workshop
We’ll dive into various styles of flow and work various aspects of our rhyming brains. There will be exercises to introduce students to rhyming structure, story progression through rapping and more. The workshop will end with scenes that lead into rap.
What you’ll get out of the Workshop
You’ll come out of the workshop with new knowledge about using rap to inject life into your scenes. You’ll also be expanding your improv repertoire, which will make you a better improviser and performer in general.
